Ronald McDonald House of South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO) was built in 1993 and is located near to McMaster Children’s Hospital - independently owned and operated by Kid’s Care Oncology Central West Ontario with a volunteer Board of Directors and a full complement of volunteers. It’s a place which provides a warm, compassionate and safe home away from home for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at McMaster’s Children Hospital.
Under the leadership of Tony Weadick, Treasurer of St. Catharines & Regional Niagara Association, we discovered that over 200 Niagara families used RMHCSCO in 2019 with an average of 12.5 nights per family. Imagine being a child with a chronic or life-threatening illness and in need of your parents/family at your bedside 7/24. Imagine parents who cannot afford accommodation nearby and need a temporary crisis home.
St. Catharines & Regional Niagara Twinning Association made its first donation in February 2020. We made our second donation in February of 2021.
